Acute and Urgent Care

Acute illness care is unexpected healthcare you need for a new problem and may include symptoms that are unfamiliar and of concern to you. Acute care can also be care you need because the problem you are experiencing does not seem to be getting better.

If you have a concern and come to see me I will offer you appropriate treatment and testing. If testing is needed I will explain the reasons for the testing and the pros and cons involved. Some treatments may be supportive home care and some problems may involve getting a prescription or other types of interventions.

Seattle Nurse Practitioner
Seattle Natural Healthcare

Whatever it is, I will help you get the care you need.

Many people in Seattle are frustrated that they can’t get in to see their provider for many days when they have an acute problem. I strive to be available to you in person or by phone. If I am in the office I am usually able to see you the same day or within 24 hours. If I am not in the office one of my colleagues will typically be able to see you.

Examples of acute illness:

  • Colds, sore throats and sinus problems
  • Allergies (itchy eyes, sneezing, runny nose)
  • Trouble breathing (coughing and/or wheezing)
  • Headache (sinus, tension and migraine)
  • Muscle pains (back, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow and neck)
  • Nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea
  • Urinary tract symptoms (burning, discomfort, frequency)
  • Vaginal complaints (discharge and/or itching)
